Humpback Whales at Channel Islands Whale Watching

I’ve said it before that sometimes the business of running a business keeps you from doing the very thing you love the most which is why you got into the business in the first place.

Today was no exception.
Payroll, meetings, advertising, etc. kept me chained to the office most of the day.
The images that came in this evening had me just mesmerized wishing today had been my day.

Humpbacks are here and have been a frequent encounter in nearby Sanctuary waters. This species is a delight to all who are privileged to be onboard.

Their sheer gracefulness in the water takes us to another place as we observe them moving with such splendor.
My family was in town the past few days, here from Northern California.
My niece is on a college tour planning the next few years of her life. They are headed to San Diego and asked if I had a connection with Sea World…ha!

I did in fact get them their passes, but somehow I think they are missing out on the big show.
What a treat these past days have been. Good weather, Blue, Humpback, Fin, Gray and Orca’s…how can you top that.
The coming weeks have us all excited here at Channel Islands Whale Watching as the mother calf pairs continue their passage north towards the Bering Sea.

We have our eye on the horizon as May approaches and we transition into our Seafari Tours.
These trips were so popular last year we are offering them through the month of July. This offshore adventure focuses on the wildlife in and around Channel Islands National Park and National Marine Sanctuary. It includes a non-landing tour of the rugged North Shore of Anacapa Island.

While we have not had lots of rain this year, the island is alive with color and the scenery is unsurpassed.
We look forward to the upcoming months offshore.

Enjoy todays images provided to us through the lens of Edward Howell. He is our treasure. I have had a screen shot from January of an encounter with Orcas that has been hard to top until today.
Thank Ed.
See you onboard,
Capt. Frank
