Blue Whales spotted on the Seafari!
by Frank Ursitti Yesterday was the Seafari trip we have been waiting for!
While on our way to the park and sanctuary around Anacapa Islande, we came upon 2 BLUE WHALES transiting the channel.
Hard to imagine we are a mere 50 miles from the greater Los Angeles area and we are able to observe the largest animal on our planet in its natural environment.
All onboard were captivated by their presence and humbled by their size.
We tracked along with them for almost an hour as we observed one surfacing after another.
They slid effortlessly through the water…all 150 tons as their body is perfectly shaped to minimize drag.
Just increadible.
Life abounds inside Channel Islands National Park and National Marine Sanctuary.
Every trip is an adventure just waiting to be taken…
