What IS a SeaFari Tour?

A SeaFari tour is the ultimate excursion looking for wildlife. We head over to Anacapa Island to tour the rugged North Shore. The island is teeming with wildlife, includling Sea Lions, Harbor seals, and many species of birds. However, we could encounter whales and dolphins on our journey across the channel to the Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary and Channel Islands National Park.

Channel Islands National Park and National Marine Sanctuary have become a global destination to observe wildlife. The waters surrounding the park and sanctuary are teeming with wildlife…some rare and endangered. On any given trip you can expect to encounter dolphins, sea lions, seabirds and while not the primary focus several species of whales call these waters home. We are one of few places where several species may be observed on a single trip.

Is there an age limit?

There is no age limit. Wildlife viewing is fun for all ages.

Can I bring my 2 month old baby?
Absolutely! This is a family activity enjoyed by all ages. We offer a special rate for children 12 & under.

Can I bring my 2 month old baby?

Children 2 and under ride FREE. Let us know when making your reservation.

Will we see whales?

On any given trip you can expect to encounter dolphins, sea lions, seabirds and while not the primary focus, several species of whales, including Orcas, Blue Whales, Humpbacks and several other kinds, call these waters home. We are one of few places where several species may be observed on a single trip.

What do I wear?

Dress in layers. The weather can vary throughout your trip. Better to have than have not.

How long is the trip?

SeaFari trips are typically 4 hours in duration.

What will we see?

Channel Islands National Park and National Marine Sanctuary are premier global destinations for viewing aquatic wildlife. Waters around these islands have been set aside as a sanctuary, a safe haven for the diversity of species found in the region. It is not uncommon to observe several species of whales on a single outing. In addition, seals, sea lions, dolphin and a variety of marine birds…some found only in the Channel Islands region.

How big is the boat?

We have several boats in our fleet. Our primary vessel is 85’ overall.

Is there food on board?

On the SeaFari tours a continental breakfast or light lunch is included in your passage. (Beverages not included) In addition, our full service galley offers additional menu items available for purchase.

What to bring?

We suggest you bring a quality camera to capture images of your voyage. The Channel Islands offer an unsurpassed opportunity to gather images of wildlife in a unique setting. In addition, but not necessary, a set of field glasses for viewing those sights just out of range, or for those wanting a closer look.

How do I get there?

We are the closest point of entry into the Park and Sanctuary. Reaching us is easy.

From the 101 Freeway, exit Victoria Avenue and head towards the beach (south). We are located @ 4151 South Victoria Avenue, Oxnard CA 93035…in the beautiful Channel Islands Harbor.

Are you handicap accessible?

While this activity may pose a challenge, we do our best to accommodate our handicapped guests. We typically have no problem accommodating those with the least bit of mobility. Please contact us in advance if you have any questions or concerns.

Can I bring my own food?

While we do offer a full service galley onboard, you are more than welcome to bring your own food. Please, no ice chests, glass containers and alcoholic beverages.

Will I get sea sick?

Motion sickness is typically not an issue. If you are prone, take your typical remedy prior to boarding. We offer a variety of generic products for those with concerns.

Is there seating inside/outside?

Bench seating is provided outside and galley seating inside.

How far do we go out?

Most trips take place in Park and Sanctuary waters. Typically we travel 10-12 miles offshore, depending upon where our best opportunity is to observe the day’s wildlife.

Can we get off on the island?

SeaFari trips are Non-Landing trips, which means we do not get off on the island. We do, however, on most trips observe shoreline species around the Island.

What else could we see?

Typical observations within Park and Sanctuary waters include Gray, Humpback, Finback, Blue, Minke, Pilot, Orca whales and more. Several species of dolphin, seals, sea lions and a variety of aquatic fowl are observed daily.

Do you offer group rates?

We offer group rates for 20 or more persons.

Can we reserve the whole boat for our group?

Yes. We specialize in private charters. Customize your itinerary or focus on a specific agenda. Let us help you plan a trip for your group.

Is the trip narrated?

All of our trips are fully narrated. The captain and crew have logged many years on the waters surrounding the Islands within the Park and Sanctuary. They are true naturalists and experts at identifying wildlife in the region. They are dedicated and passionate in providing you with a quality offshore experience.

What if it rains?

Typically, rain is not a reason to cancel your Seafari Tour. Often times a poncho or umbrella will suffice against the elements. Should the weather prove inclement or impassable, we will reschedule your tour to a more suitable day.

What happens if the trip is canceled, do we get a refund?

If the trip is canceled prior to departure due to weather, lack of reservations or any other unforeseen reason, we will make every possible effort to accommodate you on another date.
