80 Degrees in January...Southern California Whale Watching

by Channel Islands Whale Watching

I almost feel guilty writing today as the rest of the country freezes we have had summer like conditions here in Southern California.

Heading off shore whale watching in the waters surrounding Channel Islands National Park and National Marine Sanctuary has been incredible as a result.

Today, with Santa Anna winds blowin’ hot from the north, we ventured offshore and found our whales. While many may not have seen, we observed several too far off over the horizon to pursue, but we did find a very friendly and willing Gray that we tagged along with for several miles.

Beyond that, I often get lost in the days images that Edward provides.

Here comes the guilt part…here I sit, at my desk, blogging in a pair of shorts with my feet up on the desk. My office windows are wide open, and the temp inside is hovering around 75 as we are starting to cool down.

Where else can someone enjoy such conditions?

Southern California offers such diversity in terms of climate and activities, and Whale Watching tops the list this time of year.

It seems everywhere you turn, whales are making the news.

We’ve seen an unprecedented number of South bounders so far this season. We’ve also had several encounters with our oceans top predator…the Orca.

What sets our tours apart from all others up and down the coast however, is the rugged, isolated and raw beauty of Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary.

Just about each and every one of our trips takes place in the waters surrounding the park.
These waters play host to such diversity of wildlife in a natural unspoiled setting that they alone are worth the journey.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity and head offshore with us over the next few months and enjoy all our area has to offer.

See you onboard…

Often times I get so caught up in the days images and it is easy to overlook things...ha...things. I was so caught up in thinking about todays weather as well as the beauty of the island that I neglected to post the star of the show.

Just goes to show you how much diversity we have on any given trip...thanks Ed!
